Title of the workshop:
Jugaad by Design: A deconstructive approach for Design Innovation and PoC prototyping.
Workshop brief:
This workshop is specifically designed to give a complete experience of innovation, product design and rapid prototyping. Participants will be working in groups, online.
Participants will design and develop a novel device from the parts of an everyday device. The process of designing a hardware product collaboratively in online mode is a challenging task. The regular design process of product design has to be tweaked to suit the pandemic constraints.
The adventure is in
1. developing a strategy to collaborate amongst the team members.
2. Proof of concept prototype building using everyday objects that you have at home.
3. Using Computer Aided Design tools for transforming a hack into a potentially commercial product.
4. Effective use of Rapid Prototyping devices (CNC Laser cutting, 3D printing etc).
5. Accomplishing tasks 1, 2, 3 and 4 in 5 days!
Who is it for:
Anyone who is interested in following might find this workshop useful.
· designing a physical product,
· learning 3D CADD software,
· exploring RPT (Rapid Prototyping),
· understanding the evolution of Product Form
What will I learn?
Creative perception, Creative hacking, Task analysis, Progress over Perfection, Quick fixing (Jugaad) and 3D CAD tools, cost-effective innovation.
Above all, nuances in giving a Form to a technology i.e. Product Form!
How?
Participants will work in groups. Brainstorming and discussions will happen online.
3D printing and other CNC prototyping will be done remotely in IDC using PoC Lab, Shenoy Innovation Studio facilities.
